Next Monday brings the auction of another of Michael Lynn’s many homes, you may remember my first foray into auctioneer deconstruction. This second auction is of the property at 20 St. Alban’s Park, Sandymount, Dublin 4. It will be going under the hammer at 2.30pm in 24 St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2.

The sale is again being handled by Lisney and the advised minimum value (or AMV to those in the know) is €1.85 million. (The Commission on these properties in a property downturn must be manna from heaven!)

Readers may remember that this house is the subject of legal proceedings between financial institutions and Michael’s wife Brid Murphy.

Last month the Commercial Court directed that the property in Sandymount and 4 others be sold. Further hearings will be held to decided the fate of the proceeds.

Ms. Murphy is claiming that she is entitled to 50% of the proceeds of this house and the property in Glenlion in Howth which was auctioned in January. Several financial institutions are contesting her claim.

Unusually spacious – ah that would be because the hippo and the baby grand piano are missing.

The very modern interior combines bright living spaces with a very large kitchen, all of which enjoy views of the gardens. There are three well appointed bedrooms, the master being en suite, studio / study and utility room. The landscaped south west facing rear garden is another important attribute with its mature shrubs and trees.

It sounds lovely altogether! And there’s more (as Jimmy Cricket used to say – actually he still does…)

Almost new??? Strange phrasing…but great stuff – looks a bit like those car showrooms that Michael was supposed to have visited in January.

I wonder if the buyer will get to enjoy a glass or two of the wine that was returned by the bailiffs to the house after Brid Murphy contested the bailiff raid that produced a few thousand euro worth of goods.

I’m sure we’re all looking forward to hearing about the result of the auction.

By the way incoming news about the Gardai getting busy with their investigations. Members of staff employed by Michael Lynn in his companies over the past 10 years are currently being interviewed by the Gardai. It is going to take a while to get through them all as turnover was very high – (there were the loyal/devoted and then there were those who escaped), and the number of cases being investigated are also numerous.

Plenty of time for Michael to be planning whatever he’s planning, but it’s clear that the Gardai are aiming at getting this right the first time around and extending their knowledge of fraud investigation techniques in the meantime.
