In case you’ve not seen it yet – the new Bertie portrait on the Taoiseach’s portraits wall in Leinster House.

Clap all of yourselves on the back there – we all paid for it.  Thanks to the chicken for the donation.  Other scoops welcome to tips@mamanpoulet.com

Campaign Diary #5

September 29th, 2011 · Elections, Irish Politics, Trot for the ARAS 2011

This Diary is the #Aras11 Movie Show. Get your popcorn and ice-cream ready and settle in for a while.

—–

The Trailer in our show is this video from Michael Fisher ex RTE reporter from Belfast who captured the seven hopefuls in a photocall before their first debate on RTE Radio 1 yesterday. (You can listen back to the debate by the way!)

—–

Michael D Higgins the Biopic was put on general release yesterday.

—-

This Get on the Register Video is from Grace Margetson in support of Mary Davis (oops it was taken down but I found it again).

—–

A Musical Interlude….

Michael Regan was moved to write Sui Generis ‘a music composition inspired by the democratic efforts of the We Want Norris Campaign to get Senator David Norris on the ballot paper for the Irish Presidential Election 2011.’

—–

The Candidates have been doing interviews with Ray Darcy on Todayfm. I’ve not been able to hear them so I don’t know who upon election will lead to Ray emigrating.

Yesterday Martin McGuinness was in studio, it got a bit testy.

—–

Dana’s social media presence is not much as she’s entered the race so late. All donations gratefully received for future nights out at the flicks!

I’m also looking for blogposts on #aras11 election issues and bits of the provincial papers too if you see anything!?

——

Finally some betting reports

Paddy Powers current odds on #Aras11

Michael D.Higgins 10/11
David Norris 5/2
Martin McGuinness 4/1
Gay Mitchell 8/1
Mary Davis 10/1
Sean Gallagher 40/1
Dana Rosemary Scallon 50/1

Campaign Diary #4

September 28th, 2011 · Elections, Irish Politics, Trot for the ARAS 2011

We are finally at D Day.   Campaigns are officially launched, nominations closed but most importantly debate season has begun and questions have to be asked and answered (or avoided but we’ll know what they are doing).

——

In case you missed Senator Norris’s remarks at the end of his quest for nominations at Dublin City Council Last night, Newstalk’s Paraic Gallagher has released the recording of Norris’s remarks outside City Hall and his refusal to answer questions.

Senator David Norris Refusing to answer questions of @fiachkelly and @paraicgallagher #Norris (mp3)

Paraic has also put up recordings of the contributions of Dublin City Councillors the meeting.

—–

The first debate is on News at One on RTE Radio 1 today – Sean O’Rourke has an extended programme from 1pm. The folk at Election2011.ie have been busy and have they have debate bingo cards ready for you to download.

—–

The very talented Annie West has also provided us with a game!! We have a Cut out and keep handy sized Wheel of #Aras11 clichés – (with instructions!)  this may be especially useful for those of you watching all seven candidates being interviewed individually on Primetime on RTE 1 tonight.

(Thanks to Annie for permission to publish!)
