Roy Greenslade reports that José Alejandro Godoy, who leads the blogging at Desde el Tercer Piso (From the Thrid Floor) was last week sentenced to three years in prison, fined $107,000 and sentenced to 120 days of social work.

His ‘crime’ was to write a post in April 09 which reproduced letters which were already publicly available between a former government minister and a member of congress and comment on them.

Godoy is appealling the decision. More from the Peruvian Times which reports the uproar amongst press groups against the decision.
