I wonder what the Evening Herald headlines are today with regards to the guilty plea in the case concerning the murder of Sharon Coughlan. Will they exonerate the victim? This case came a bit late for the new Press Council and of course who knows if the new body would have actually done anything? I should add I would hate to see case become a chance for the Herald to engage in xenophobia either – there is far too much of that already.  Maybe the lack of reaction and swift move on regarding the release of Wayne O’Donoghue means a change in tack in lurid reporting in Ireland. Ooops…was that one of my favourite pigs flying by??

I know many of Sharon’s family and friends arrive at this site due to the post I made at the time of her death.  I hope that someone will make a statement about the coverage in their tributes to her.
