Adrian Weckler from the Sunday Business Post received a phonecall from Conor Lenihan after writing a column last weekend critical of ministerial appointments and the manner of appointment of junior ministers. (Another example of FF ministers not taking well to press criticism and handling things … well you’ll see!)
Go read the blog post about the phonecall – it’s so early into Lenihan’s stint as Minister for State for science, technology, innovation and natural resources and he’s already made a mark, his special mark!
If you are wondering about his defence of working for Denis O’Brien as proof of his technical expertise, the Minister for state was a journalist prior to election – not a mobile phone developer or an internet guru.
It’s the manner of Lenihan’s response which says so much more about his ability or otherwise, I don’t expect health ministers to be doctors or arts ministers to be artists, but I would expect some political expertise and cop on. And it’s clear Lenihans’ career is well littered with examples of his lack in those attributes.
